Our Ljungby site in Sweden recently opened its doors to welcome the best and brightest of a crop of millennials to the first Electrolux Experience Student VIP Day.
The pilot initiative involved an exclusive tour and series of meet and greets with employees from various departments.
A multicultural mix of engineering, IT and HR students were handpicked from Linnaeus University in Växjö – around 50 km from Ljungby – and had the unique opportunity to experience Professional up close and personal.
“I didn’t know that a company like this existed,” said Mohammed Meysam, a Masters student from Iran. “And it has the multicultural environment that I would like to work in.”
Marius Stücheli from The Research Hub gave a tour of the new R&D labs, while students had a chance to see for themselves and ask questions on day-to-day work-life.
“The people are warm and friendly but at the same time driven by goals and projects,” said Prasannjeet Singh from India. “That’s what I look for in a company.”
Younger employees hosted an informal Q&A, inviting participants to imagine how they might embark on a career path meaningful to them.
Paolo Mauri, Connectivity Director from Customer Care & Quality, discussed the digital future while Elina Comstedt, from the Control System Team in R&D, gave a hands-on demo of the technology behind a washing machine’s user interface.
The event was the first of its kind to reach out to students in a direct and interactive way.
“The team behind-the-scenes showed a lot of passion in making a success of the day, which also confirmed our wanted position as an employer of choice,” said Filippo Paggiarin, from the Ljungby HR team and one of the organizers of the event.
“Students went away asking us to keep them updated on opportunities in Electrolux – they have the feeling this is really a place where they would like to work one day,” he adds.
